how to become a great leader

WANT TO BE A GREAT LEADER? FOLLOW THESE SIX RULES

‘To be a great leader, first become a great person’

How many leaders out there spend the time analysing how they have been interacting with their team. How many stop to think about how their actions are affecting the team.

Investment in oneself is crucial in being that person that people want as their leader.

In this blog we look at six simple things you can do to make sure you are on your way to greatness.

Great Leaders Are Positive

It is of vital importance to keep your team motivated by remaining positive, always spreading the message of working together towards achieving the company’s success. In return this will keep energy levels up and maintain your team’s interest.

Great Leaders Know How To Delegate

As a leader you should be spending the time getting to know your team members’ strengths and use them. Find out what each one enjoys doing and let them feel valued and needed.

Great Leaders Have Great Communication Skills

Clearly communicate your objectives and provide clear instructions so that your team knows exactly what is expected of them and you are all working together towards the same goal.

Great Leaders Show Commitment

There is nothing more motivating then a leader who shows commitment. Get involved in what your team is doing and show that you are prepared to put in the hard work right alongside them.

Great Leaders Have Intuition

A leader needs to learn to follow their gut instincts. It is important to trust yourself, in return your team will have trust in you. Be mindful of what’s happening around you, your team’s mood and quality of work and be prepared to use your intuition if you think something is out of the ordinary.

Great Leaders Are Creative

Yes, creativity. Leaders need to make decisions and sometimes the answers are not as clear as you would like them to be. In these instances, a leader needs to tap into their creativity skills and see the wider picture.

Individual and team coaching, as well as dynamic profiling, can be a great way to tap into extra knowledge and use an outsider’s perspective to see things more clearly. Look out for our next blog where we explain these services in more detail.
